What is Scribbling Suit?

Named after the special outfit Jo March dons in Little Women when immersed in her writing, Scribbling Suit is a boutique editorial business, specialising in children's and YA fiction. 

I work with experienced authors on everything from structural edits to outlining ideas, as well as nurturing new writers, helping them to find their voice, hone their craft and understand the publishing business. I also work with publishers, literary agencies and IP development companies. I'll brainstorm the big ideas, reshape stories, copyedit, proofread and everything in between. 

My name is Stephanie and I am an empathetic, passionate and dedicated editor with an approach that is both professional and deeply author-focused. I studied English Literature at UCL, before embarking on a career in children's brand licensing, developing brand identities and copywriting. I joined Usborne Publishing as an Editorial Assistant and worked my way up to Commissioning Editor, enjoying over fifteen happy years there. During that time, I commissioned and edited an eclectic range of books for 7+ to YA by bestselling, award-winning authors including  Pseudonymous Bosch, Vanessa Curtis, Sarah Hagger-Holt, William Hussey, Ann M Martin, Serena Patel, Michelle Quach, Meredith Russo, Darren Simpson and L A Weatherly. I've also been immensely lucky to work on titles by authors including Sophie Anderson, Claire Barker, Holly Bourne, Peter Bunzl, Phil Hickes, Geraldine McCaughrean, Jenny Pearson, K M Peyton, Hayley Scott and Tim Tilley. 

I am passionate about finding and nurturing talented children’s writers of colour, and committed to ensuring all children see themselves reflected in the books they love. I am a Co-Director at Megaphone Write C. I. C. with founder Leila Rasheed.
